Where Janet is from and how she got to Atlanta:
Janet is an Atlanta native who appreciates everything ATL has to offer. Having lived and worked in Southwest Atlanta all her life, she is excited to be able to reach and work with a different area of the city.
Professional & educational background:
Janet received her Bachelors in Psychology from Clayton State University. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work from Georgia State University. She has gained experience with community engagement from working in the school system advocating for families and their children's education. For five years she specialized in assisting families who recently immigrated to the United States and those who had little to no proficiency in the English language.
Her role at Grove Park Renewal:
Janet is the new Community Engagement Intern. Working closely with Maureen, the Director of Community Engagement, she supports the overall goals of Grove Park Renewal. By building one-on-one relationships, assisting in community events, and being a resource for residents, she is excited to be interning at GPR.
What Janet loves about GPR and is excited to experience:
In her first dew weeks of working at GPR, Janet has loved being a part of the community. From getting to know the Grove Park residents, to working with the staff, the culture of Grove Park is evident. She is excited to experience the community mobilization that is happening in the area and how she can be involved.
